Microwave cooking tips

Cooking in your microwave at the end of a long, busy day is more than just easy and economical – it’s a lifesaver! To help you with simple and safe microwave cooking, check out our Top 5 tips for cooking in the microwave:

  1. Add salt after cooking: Microwaves are attracted to salt and may cause your food to dry out.
  2. Clean your microwave: Combine 4 tablespoons lemon juice  (+)  with1 cup water in a Starmaid® 1L Square reheatable dish (do not place lid on the dish). Boil the water for 5 minutes in the microwave, allowing the steam to condense to the oven walls. Wipe out your microwave. The lemon helps to soften the grease and grime, making it easier to clean.
  3. Do not use plastic microwave - safe dishes in a conventional oven or on an element / browning dish.
  4. Use a cover dish if appropriate - this helps keep your microwave clean and also cuts down on cooking time.
  5. Cut foods into smaller pieces if possible to allow for a quicker cooking time.
